Hoya 'Clamshell' is an unusual unidentified collector Hoya grown for its wonderfully sculptural foliage.

The thick, substantial leaves naturally curve and fold upward rather than lying flat. Mature leaves can develop a deeply cupped shape that resembles an open clamshell — the characteristic that gives this plant its horticultural name.

The amount of folding can vary between leaves. Some may remain only gently curved, while others develop a much more pronounced shell-like shape. The foliage is generally smooth, glossy, and green, with a sturdy texture that makes this plant look quite different from most commonly grown Hoyas.

The exact botanical identity of Hoya 'Clamshell' remains uncertain. Some plants in the international trade are sold as Hoya kastbergii 'Clamshell', while other established collectors and nurseries continue to circulate what appears to be the same or similar plant simply as Hoya 'Clamshell' NOID.
