Unrooted cutting of Hoya oligantha.
Several nodes.

Hoya oligantha is a Hoya species native to New Guinea, known for its compact foliage and relatively few-flowered inflorescences.

Hoya oligantha was collected by Rudolf Schlechter in the Torricelli Mountains of New Guinea on September 13, 1909. His collection was numbered 20176, and the species was formally published in 1913.

The name “oligantha” refers to the plant’s few-flowered habit — an appropriate distinction for a Hoya that produces much smaller flower clusters than the large umbels seen in many other species.

Recent botanical work continues to recognize Hoya oligantha as a distinct New Guinea species. Modern references place it among the smaller-flowered Hoyas of the region, with individual flowers reaching roughly 2.5–3 cm across.

Botanical name: Hoya oligantha Schltr.

Please note that leaf size, shape, venation, and growth habit may vary as the plant matures and under different growing conditions.

A note about this plant: Species-level botanical and historical information above is based on published taxonomic records and historical collection information. Plants circulating commercially as Hoya oligantha and Hoya aff. oligantha are not always treated as the same material. We do not possess original wild-collection or identification documentation for our particular cultivated plant and cannot independently confirm or deny its connection to Schlechter’s original New Guinea collection.

Size of the cutting

Cuttings are one node by default, unless otherwise stated. Some may have additional nodes/growth points depending on propagation time, but most will be single-node due to high demand on certain varieties. More about the size here.

Preparation Time

Most of the cuttings are pre-rooted. This ensures that the plant material is in optimal condition for transit and subsequent planting.

Appearance

Hoyas are often sold as single-node cuttings. Photos are provided to show the general appearance of the plant's foliage and may not represent the exact cutting you’ll receive. When available, details about cutting length are included in the product description. More on type on the cutting info here.

Note

The photos are provided to show the plant’s foliage more clearly—please note that we’re selling a one-node cutting by default.
