Hoya phuwuaensis Variegated is a rare variegated form of Hoya phuwuaensis, a botanical Hoya species native to Thailand and Vietnam.

The foliage is elliptic with an attractive combination of green margins and irregular cream, yellow to pale lime-green variegation through the center of the leaf. Individual leaves can vary considerably in both the amount and pattern of variegation, and new growth may occasionally develop warmer or pinkish tones.

The non-variegated species also naturally develops attractive silver mottling across its leaves, giving Hoya phuwuaensis particularly complex foliage even before variegation is added.

Hoya phuwuaensis was formally described in 2016 from material collected in Phu Wua Wildlife Sanctuary in Bueng Kan Province, northeastern Thailand. The species is an epiphytic climber and is now documented from Thailand and Vietnam.

It is closely related in appearance to Hoya caudata, but Hoya phuwuaensis can be distinguished botanically by its elliptic leaves with a wedge-shaped base as well as differences in its floral structures.

The variegated form combines the naturally distinctive foliage of the species with contrasting pale central variegation, making it especially striking as the plant matures.

A note about this plant: Hoya phuwuaensis is a botanically accepted species with documented wild provenance. The variegated form offered here is a horticultural selection circulating in cultivation. We have not located documentation establishing this variegated clone as a formally registered cultivar or identifying its original source, so it is listed under the descriptive name Hoya phuwuaensis Variegated.
