Hoya platycaulis is an unusual Hoya species native to the Philippines and formally described in 2009 by Nadhanielle Simonsson and Michele Rodda.

Its name refers to one of the plant's most distinctive characteristics: the young stems can develop a conspicuously flattened shape rather than the typical round stems seen in most Hoyas.

The foliage is equally distinctive, with very long, narrow green leaves that may develop beautifully undulating margins. Mature plants produce unusual pale green to yellow-green flowers.
