Hoya 'Snowman'

Hoya 'Snowman' is an unusual collector Hoya with heavily silvered foliage. Its broad, but not like 'Michele' thick leaves can develop extensive silver marbling, sometimes covering nearly the entire leaf while leaving contrasting green veins, margins and irregular green markings.

'Snowman' is reported to be a Thai selection raised from a seedling of Hoya 'Michele' Splash. The pollen parent has not been documented.

Hoya 'Michele' is itself a hybrid of Hoya verticillata 'Laos' × Hoya acuta albomarginata, and the broad, rounded foliage of 'Snowman' strongly reflects its 'Michele' ancestry.

'Snowman' is sometimes confused with Hoya 'Blizzard', but they are separate selections. 'Blizzard' is commonly documented as Hoya crassipetiolata Splash × Hoya 'Michele' Splash and generally produces more elongated, pointed leaves. 'Snowman' tends toward broader, rounder foliage with dramatic silver marbling.

The amount and pattern of silver can vary considerably from leaf to leaf, and future growth cannot be guaranteed to match the exact silver coverage shown in the photos.
