Hoya sp. Blang Beke 'Z3' is a rare, unidentified collector Hoya circulated under a locality-style name associated with the Blang Beke mountain area of Aceh, northern Sumatra, Indonesia.

The plant is especially distinctive for its long, narrow foliage with pointed tips and a substantial, somewhat rugged texture. Mature leaves may develop gently irregular or wavy margins together with subtle pale splash, giving the plant a very different look from smoother-leaved Hoyas.

Blang Beke is a mountainous area within the Gunung Leuser region of Aceh. Mt. Blang Beke itself is documented at approximately 2,729 meters (8,954 feet) above sea level. While this makes the locality particularly interesting, we have not found original collection records confirming exactly where within the Blang Beke area this particular Hoya was collected.

The meaning and origin of the designation “Z3” also do not appear to be publicly documented. Because the plant has not been formally identified to species, we retain both the “sp.” designation and the Z3 name under which this particular form circulates among collectors.
