Unrooted cutting of Hoya lacunosa 'Orange Peel'.
Three to five nodes.
Hoya lacunosa 'Orange Peel' is a distinctive collector selection of Hoya lacunosa, with pale silver foliage and unusual leaf texture.
The leaves can develop a soft mint-green to silvery appearance, often with very little visible dark green. What makes this selection especially unusual is the surface of the mature foliage: as the leaves harden, they may develop a finely dimpled or pebbled texture reminiscent of the skin of an orange β the characteristic that gives 'Orange Peel' its name.
New leaves may initially emerge smoother, with the distinctive texture becoming more noticeable as they mature. The amount of silver, green coloration, and surface texture can vary from leaf to leaf.
This plant is also circulated under the name Hoya lacunosa 'Orange Skin', which appears to refer to the same or very similar horticultural material.
Hoya lacunosa itself is an accepted species native across parts of Southeast Asia and Malesia, including Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, and the Philippines. The species was formally published in 1827.
Mature Hoya lacunosa produces clusters of small, fuzzy, star-shaped flowers and is well known among growers for its fragrance.
