Unrooted cutting of Hoya SS 007-021.
One node.
One or two leaves.

Hoya SS 007-021 is a hybrid produced by Thai Hoya hybridizer Surisa Somadee Riampreeda, from a cross of Hoya kerrii × Hoya erythrina. The prefix SS is used for Surisa’s seed-grown hybrids, and collector references specifically attribute SS 007-021 and this parentage to Surisa.

The foliage strongly reflects its Hoya kerrii background but has a character of its own. Leaves are thick, glossy, and broadly rounded to heart-shaped, often developing an almost circular profile. Mature foliage can have a distinctive shallow cup or slightly folded shape, with visible venation radiating outward from the base. The very round leaves have led some collectors to compare them to small lily pads.

The two parent species are both accepted Hoya species. Hoya kerrii is native from Indochina into western Malesia, with records from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Peninsular Malaysia, and Java. Hoya erythrina has a considerably narrower documented native range in Peninsular Malaysia and Vietnam.

Because SS 007-021 is a deliberately produced hybrid rather than a naturally occurring species, it does not have a native range or type locality of its own. Its numerical designation should also be retained when the plant is propagated, since it identifies this particular selection rather than every seedling resulting from a kerrii × erythrina cross.

The plant is sometimes offered under shortened or reformatted versions of the code, including SS 07-21, SS007-021, and SS-007-021. The botanical spelling of the second parent is Hoya erythrina; some commercial listings use the misspelling “erytrina.”

I did not find sufficiently reliable original documentation describing flower measurements, fragrance, or the circumstances under which this particular seedling was selected, so I would leave those details out rather than repeat unsupported descriptions.

Hybrid: Hoya kerrii × Hoya erythrina
Hybridizer: Surisa Somadee Riampreeda, Thailand
Collector / seedling code: SS 007-021
Type: Seed-grown Hoya hybrid
Native range: Not applicable — cultivated hybrid
Notable features: Thick, glossy, very broad rounded to heart-shaped foliage; prominent venation; distinctive “lily-pad” appearance

A note about this plant: SS 007-021 is a cultivated hybrid rather than a formally described Hoya species. The SS designation and parentage are associated with Surisa Somadee Riampreeda’s hybridizing work in Thailand. We preserve the SS 007-021 number with our plant because the accession identifies this particular seedling selection and should not be replaced simply by the parentage Hoya kerrii × Hoya erythrina.

Size of the cutting

Cuttings are one node by default, unless otherwise stated. Some may have additional nodes/growth points depending on propagation time, but most will be single-node due to high demand on certain varieties. More about the size here.

Preparation Time

Most of the cuttings are pre-rooted. This ensures that the plant material is in optimal condition for transit and subsequent planting.

Appearance

Hoyas are often sold as single-node cuttings. Photos are provided to show the general appearance of the plant's foliage and may not represent the exact cutting you’ll receive. When available, details about cutting length are included in the product description. More on type on the cutting info here.

Note

The photos are provided to show the plant’s foliage more clearly—please note that we’re selling a one-node cutting by default.
