Unrooted cutting of Hoya stenophylla.
Three to five nodes.

Hoya stenophylla is an unusual Hoya species native to New Guinea, immediately recognizable for its exceptionally narrow foliage.

The leaves are long, slender, and almost grass-like, growing relatively close together along thin stems. Mature foliage has a firm, somewhat leathery texture, giving the plant a delicate appearance without actually feeling especially fragile.

Hoya stenophylla has a well-documented botanical history. Rudolf Schlechter collected it flowering in September 1909 in the forests of the Torricelli Mountains of northeastern New Guinea, growing epiphytically on trees at approximately 800 meters elevation. He formally described the species in 1913.

The flowers are surprisingly substantial compared with the narrow foliage. The original description records loose umbels containing up to approximately ten star-shaped flowers, with individual blooms reaching around 2.5 cm across. Their coloration is described as pale creamy yellow, transitioning toward soft pink closer to the corona.

The species name stenophylla refers to its narrow leaves — a particularly appropriate name for one of the most fine-leaved Hoyas in cultivation.

We do not have original wild-collection or provenance documentation for our particular cultivated plant and cannot independently confirm or deny its connection to the original New Guinea collections.

Size of the cutting

Cuttings are one node by default, unless otherwise stated. Some may have additional nodes/growth points depending on propagation time, but most will be single-node due to high demand on certain varieties. More about the size here.

Preparation Time

Most of the cuttings are pre-rooted. This ensures that the plant material is in optimal condition for transit and subsequent planting.

Appearance

Hoyas are often sold as single-node cuttings. Photos are provided to show the general appearance of the plant's foliage and may not represent the exact cutting you’ll receive. When available, details about cutting length are included in the product description. More on type on the cutting info here.

Note

The photos are provided to show the plant’s foliage more clearly—please note that we’re selling a one-node cutting by default.
